Stevens-Pope single-shot target rifle on Winchester high wall action, .32-40 caliber, 30” heavy round barrel with matching false muzzle, double set triggers, Winchester checkered deluxe walnut stocks, schutzenbuttplate, Pope type adjustable tang sight, hooded target front sight, with period palm rest. Action serial #98172. Barrel shows “20/141” and Pope number “565”. The rifle is in fine to near excellent condition showing80-90% toning blue finish, some scratch marks at the top edge of the action and generally sharp and crisp overall. The barrel shows milling in four places for clamp-type scope attachments. The stocks are very good pluswith a slight stress crack at the top of the action. The checkering is very sharp and most of the original varnish remains. The action is tight, the bore is excellent. A handsome rifle in every regard. From the John Goodladcollection.
