Sterling Silver creamer for teas service, #136F, approximately 4” in height and 3” in diameter with 2-1/2T stamp on bottom and a hallmark on the left side of the creamer; in overall very good to fine un-cleaned condition. Accompanied by a paperwork file and handwritten notes from our consignor that in summary, state the following: This creamer was “liberated” from Hitler’s villa in Bergeatesgarten, Bavaria by my uncle, Sgt. L.G. Smith in 1945, while with General Patch’s Army(Co. B 99th Heavy Mortar Battalion, 7th Army). Interestingly, one of the handwritten notes includes the uncle’s “C.O. told him if he wanted anything out of the ‘Berghoff’ mountain house or home, that he better get it because other U.S.units were right behind them. He got a complete sterling silver teas service which incuded my creamer, sugar bowl, silver ware, punch bowl & tray to put it on. He broke the set up and gave it to his kinfolks & friends” with the creamer going to my mother. Also included in the paperwork are photocopies of pictures of Sgt. Smith with various other soldiers. Also included is a misc. stopwatch and a folding pocket fork. Est.: $500-$5,000?
