Offered in this lot we have a first edition copy of Steep Trails by John Muir. The book was published by Boston and New York Houghton Mifflin Company in 1918. Muir was a Scottish-American naturalist who campaigned extensively for the preservation of America's wilderness lands. He co-founded the Sierra Club and is often referred to as the "Father of the National Parks". The book is a compilation of accounts and stories of Muir's adventures from 1873 up till 1902, recounting his travels across the American West. This hardcover book contains 12 illustrations throughout the piece showing landscapes and scenes. The book shows a light green cover with white lettering along the cover and spine and a image of a lake with mountains raising in the background. The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear across the cover and spine. The book measures 8 1/2" tall by 5 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" thick.
