Starr .54 caliber percussion carbine, blue and case hardened finish, serial # 12489. The breech shows original 1st Arkansas markings. The barrel shows 20-40% original blue drifting to brown, some light erosion andpinprick pitting, good sharp edges, good address, inspection by LAB on left side of breech. Top of breech marked “1 ARK D”. The lock shows traces of case hardening drifting to silver with good sharp edges and goodmarkings. The forend shows “L” inspection, buttstock shows some dings, mars, scratches, some dents around the area of the saddle-ring. There is a soldier’s ID letter “H” carved into the center portion ofbuttstock. Some other small gouges and areas of wear, but generally good. The original brass band and buttplate show a good patina.
