Exceptional Staff Grade U.S. Artillery Platoon Officer's Sword, ca. 1805-1815, slightly curved 28'' blade, 33-1/2'' overall, fluted bone ivory grip, gilded brass eaglehead and knucklebow, which attaches to the pommel below eagle's beak. Blade with floral etching, niter-bluing, and gold wash. Right side of blade marked ''Warranted'', with eagle decorated gold-washed brass scabbard, showing serpentine eaglehead drag, foliate engraving, and eagle cap motif near tip. Condition is fine retaining approx. 40% thinning blue to blade with clear etching, and approx. 35%-40% gold wash to pommel and guard. Scabbard retains approx. 30%-40% gold wash as well. Red velvet washer is present. An exceptional Artillery Officer's sword. Est.: $2,500-$4,000.
