Springfield model 1879 Trapdoor carbine, .45-70 caliber, serial #139201, breech marked “Mass”. In very good original condition. The barrel, lockplate, and hammer show 30-50% original blue that is thinning and toningwith some just beginning normal age. The triggerguard and front band show bright original blue. The breech block shows strong traces of case hardening. The markings are sharp, there are many small unit marks in the stock. The buttplate shows 50% thinning blue. The stock is very good with some dings, mars, normal use. There is a outline of a cartouche with lightly visible letters. The buttstock “Troop C.O.” The action is good,bore very good.
