Springfield Trapdoor Officers Model, 3rd type, remaining in very good plus to near fine original condition. The barrel shows 80% to 90% original bright blue drifting at the edges and thinning slightly. The lock, hammer, breech block and trigger guard show 50% to 70% case hardening drifting to gray with some areas of rainbow colors still showing. The original rear sight and butt plate show most of their bright original blue. The original folding front sight shows considerable original gold plate and the rear sight is adjustable for windage and also shows most of its original blue. The barrel band and ramrod thimble also show almost all bright original blue. The wiping Rod is of the correct style for officers model. The removable pistol grip matches well in age and color and is original. The stock is near fine with sharp checkering and a nice light original color. The stock shows some minor storage marks and scratches with just a little normal aging. The left side of the stock shows a clear and crisp S.V.W. cartouche with 1885 date and P proof on belly of stock just behind checkering. The markings are sharp and the edges are crisp. The bore is bright. An honest 8 ½ on 1 to 10 scale. Est.: $20,000-$40,000.
