Springfield Officer’s Model 2nd type .45-70 caliber Trapdoor rifle, showing removable pistol grip, in good to very good original condition. The rifle shows approx. 50-70% original blue on barrel, evenly thinning andtoning with some light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The lockplate, breech, and breech block, and triggerguard show 30-50% case hardening drifting to a patina with some good evidence of rainbow colorswhere protected. The stocks are very good with some sharp checkering, some even wear from carry and use, minor scratches, dings, mars, and no evidence of cartouche between screws, but large “P” proof on belly ofstock. The top of the stock just behind the tang shows stamped arsenal type numbers in the wood “41”. The rifle retains correct small parts and screws, original rear sight just missing its eye-piece or disk. Originalofficer’s model cleaning rod is retained. Bore is fine to near excellent. The buttplate shows traces of case hardening drifting to grey. The inside of the tang shows a large “D” stamp and the number “31”. These interior
