Springfield Model 1903 bolt action rifle, 30/06 caliber, Serial #523782. The rifle is in overall good condition with a 24” barrel. The barrel is marked, “SA 6-18” with the flaming bomb insignia. The barrel retains a small amount of its military finish in protected areas with reminder going to grey. The action and other metal surfaces on the rifle have also gone primarily to grey patina. The rifle is topped by an early 1908 sniper scope. The scope is marked, “TELESCOPIC MUSKET SIGHTMODEL OF 1908 THE WARNER AND SWASEY CO. CLEVELAND OHIO USA”. The scope features tables in brass indicating wind correction and drift. The scope has mars and scrapes consistent with use but is overall good condition with fair optics. Thescope also retains the rubber ocular ring. The smooth wood stocks are in overall good condition with numerous mars and compressions consistent with service use and a large crack running the length of the fore end. The bore is good, theaction crisp and markings are sharp on this rifle. The lot includes a leather satchel style case for the telescopic sight, marked “CH” on the back side of the satchel.
