Springfield Model 1884 trapdoor rifle in .45-70 caliber remaining in near fine original condition, serial number 459104. The barrel shows 90% to 95% plus original blue just starting to age nicely. The lock plateshow 75% original blue with sharp markings. The breech block and tang show 50% case hardening going to brown. The stock is in near fine original condition with no losses along cleaning rod channel and sharp edges.Crisp 1889 SVW cartouche with P cartouche behind trigger guard. The trigger guard shows 95% bright original blue and the butt plate shows 50% toning original blue. The bands, sights, and small parts all show considerable original finish. The action is good and the bore is excellent. An original cleaning rod is retained. The front sight is oversized and an old replacement. A strong 8 ½ on 1 to 10 scale with a very exceptional stock.
