Springfield Model 1816 flintlock musket in .69 caliber smoothbore dated 1829 on lock and 1834 on the tang. The metal surfaces show a lightly cleaned arsenal bright finish with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting.The markings and edges are sharp. The lock is in its original flintlock configuration. The breech shows a “U.S., A.M.” and “P” inspection. The stock is very good with some minor marks, storage scratches and losses around the rear edge of thelock plate and some normal storage and aging but a very good cartouche showing behind the side plate. A considerably better than average example. Est.: $900-$1800
