Model 1911 Semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1914. The pistol has a blue finish with checkered walnut stocks and is complete with a Springfield, two-tone, lanyard loop, magazine with the distinctive folded flanges on the magazine base. The slide has the integral front sight base found on Springfield Armory Model 1911 pistols. The hammer is the long spur, "Type III", pattern with rounded rear edge introduced about serial number 82000. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Springfield Eagle and Shield motif behind the ejection port and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY." in front of it. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number, "No 82448" behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1911 patent dates in three unequal lines followed by: "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A. in two lines. The Ordnance 'Shell and Flame' insignia is roll-stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations and on the left side of the frame above the magazine release. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" is roll-stamped on the left side of the frame ahead of the trigger guard. The late production Springfield barrel is blued and the top of the chamber has been polished bright. The right side of the barrel lug is stamped with the small Springfield Armory "S" and an "S" is stamped on the face of the chamber lip. The "S" is stamped on the inside of the slide stop and firing pin stop.
BBL: 5.0 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 45 ACP
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 82448
Condition: Professionally restored to issue condition, with a military blue finish. There is some scattered and very light pitting visible on the left side of the slide below the blue finish. The late production Springfield barrel is not original to this pistol. The magazine has been cleaned but retains the original 'two-tone' finish. The checkered walnut stocks are modern replacements and are in new condition. The markings have been high-lighted and are sharp. This is a very attractive example of a scarce Springfield Armory Model 1911 pistol with the correct barrel, magazine and small, "S" marked components.
