Springfield ’03 bolt action rifle, arsenal customized, though not formally (see accompanying article) as part of the work done in developing the “Wotkyns” cartridge, a project worked on at the Springfield Armoryby Captain Grove L. Watkyns, Captain G.A. Woody and Armory proof assistant, A.L.Woodworth and in conjunction with Colonel Townsend Whelen, resulting in the development of the popular .22 Hornetcartridge. This gun is .22 Hornet cal., 20-1/2” Winchester bull barrel, blue finish, wood stock, hard rubber butt pad, sling swivels, scope mounts, #19477 in overall very good condition with a very good bore, crispaction, very good markings and wood stock.
