Spiller & Burr, .36 caliber 6 shot Confederate revolver, serial number 268 showing name on barrel, “CS” on frame and serial number on cylinder. A very well-known example of this rare and desirable Confederate pistol which it ispictured on page 281 of “The William Locke” collection pages 32,33 and 168 of “Confederate Revolvers” by William A. Gary and page 291 of “Colt Brevet Revolvers” by Marco/Paxton. Pictured on the front cover of “The Gun Report” magazine in December 1986. Also referenced by serial number in William A. Albaugh’s book “Confederate Hanguns” in 1955 and again in “Confederate Handguns” in 1963. William A. Gary documents that this is a rare specimen with the name on barrel, CS on theframe and number on the cylinder and states “This is one rare specimans with these three features”. The barrel and cylinder remain in good condition showing some stressing in the steel from poor original forging which is a confederate trait that you want to see. There are minor dings, mars, nicks and some light to moderate erosion on the steel surfaces and there is some minor wear at the muzzle but is at least good to very good overall.
