Spencer Model 1865 Indian war period carbine in .50 caliber (56-50 Spencer) with 20” round barrel, Stabler cutoff, serial number 8833. The breech end of the barrel shows the model 1865 marking and frame shows Spencer Repeating Rifle Company, Boston, Mass address. The carbine remains in good to very good condition with 20% to 40% original blue and case hardening mixed in a brownish to gray patina with some minor scratches, light erosion and very minor pinprick pitting just starting. The stocks are good to very good with some scratches, minor dings, mars, some oiling and handling. No cartouche is visible. The butt plate shows considerable case hardening and drifting to a patina. The original small parts and magazine are retained. The action works well and the bore is very good plus. A strong 7 on a 1 to 10 scale. Est.: $1500-$3000
