Spencer .46 rimfire caliber sporting rifle, period or factory Nimschke style engraved, nickel plated, select wood stocks, with factory style tang sight, serial #533. The barrel shows the numbers 337 and 175. Barrel shows approx. 50-70% thinning and toning original finish, some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The frame shows 20-30% original nickel. The buttplate shows traces of original nickel. The metal surfaces show some light to moderate scattered pitting and erosion and there is some slightly heavier pitting on the buttplate. The engraving is very high quality and shows beautifully cut flowing scrolls with ribbands and stars, and is of the style attributed to L. D. Nimschke. The action is good, the bore is very good plus and still bright. The original magazine tube is retained. The frame shows the Spencer Rifle address with Providence, R.I. Only a few period-engraved Spencers are known to collectors and are rarely offered on the collector’s market. Est: $10,000 - $20,000
