This is an exceptional example of 1 of only 1,002 Ball Repeating carbines made on Government contract. Blade front and two-leaf rear sights, with the left side of the receiver marked "E.G. LAMSON. & CO./WINDSOR, VT./U.S./BALLS PATENT./JUNE 23, 1863/MAR 15, 1864", and "S" inspection marks on the rear sight base, hammer, ring bar base, top of the barrel at the breech, buttplate tang and breechblock. Smooth straight grip stock, with a "P" stamp and an oval "GGL" cartouche on the wrist and small three letter stamp directly ahead of the buttplate tang.

Condition: Excellent. 98% original blue finish remains on the barrel showing only the slightest collector type handling marks, with 98% stunning original case color remaining on the barrel bands, receiver and buttplate with only a hint of muted colors on the high edges and sling staple.
