Spectacular Factory Engraved Presentation Grade Gold and Silver Plated Sharps Model 1A Four Barrel P
Manufactured between 1859 and 1874, this fine Sharps Pepperbox pistol has a silver plated brass frame, the barrels were originally gold plated and the trigger, hammer and barrel release blue. The pistol features factory floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the sides of the frame and breech end of each barrel (extending a bit further forward on the top barrels). There is a simple double line and dot design on the muzzles, simple line designs on the butt and a scallop border on the backstrap with a simple pattern on the lower backstrap. The left side of the frame is marked "C. SHARPS / PATENT 1859" and the right side "C SHARPS & Co. / PHILADA. PA". The matching serial numbers are marked on the bottom of the barrels and on the butt. The pistol is fitted with Texas themed pearl grips with a carved steer head on the left side and an eagle fighting a snake on the right side. The pistol is complete with an original two piece black box with the "DIRECTIONS FOR USE OF / SHARP'S PATENT REPEATER" label affixed to the inside of the lid.

Gauge: 22 RF
Finish: silver/gold
Grips: pearl
Serial Number: 35989
Condition: Very fine. The barrels have a silver gray steel appearance now with evidence of original gold plating only on the underside and slight traces around the front sight and in the flute of the barrel sides. There is some scattered minor pitting. The frame retains 80% of the original silver which is beginning to age darken on the underside. The exposed brass has an aged patina. The grips are also very fine with some darkening with age on the edges of the sharp carving which gather the "crud". The engraving and markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. The box is good with glue repairs on the edges, with one edge torn, some flaking of the paper on the bottom, staining and fully intact label. A fabulous factory engraved, silver and gold Sharps Pepperbox with a rarely found original box.
