Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1911A1
Manufactured in early 1941, this is an exceptional example of a very early U.S. Colt Model 1911A1 pistol. This pistol is one of the last 1911A1 pistols that were finished in the brushed blue finish. Parkerizing started in May, 1941 with serial number 729993, 73 numbers away from this pistol (probably the last day for the blue finish). This pistol is also one of the only block of 1911A1s manufactured in 1941 (721978-756733), and was one of 1,550 shipped to the Commanding General at Springfield Armory on May 29, 1941. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1913 patent dates and address with the Rampant Colt in the center, "P" on top of the slide in front of the rear sight, and the left side of the frame is marked with a boxed "R.S.." inspector mark of Colonel Robert Sears directly below the slide stop and "P" below the magazine release. The upper front left side of the trigger guard is marked with a "T" over the Colt triangle "VP" proof and "69" on the opposite. The "No" style serial number is on the right side of the frame as well as "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" markings. Matching numbered slide. Standard low profile sights, checkered trigger, slide stop, magazine release, thumb safety, wide spur hammer and arched main spring housing. Blue barrel and unmarked magazine. Fitted with checkered plastic grips. Comes with a tan leather "US embossed flap holster marked "SEARS/1942" on the back.

Condition:
Excellent. The pistol retains 95% original brushed blue finish with some minor edge wear and thinning on the front strap. The grips are also excellent with a couple minor handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very good with some minor flex cracking and a few dark areas. A super nice, very early 1911A1 pistol with one of the last blue finishes put on these pistols.
