Special Order Winchester Model 1894 Extra Lightweight Takedown Lever Action Rifle with Cody Letter
This is an example of a Winchester Model 1894 Extra Light lever action rifle that was manufactured in 1896 and not shipped until 1899. The rifle is fitted with a tapered octagon barrel and half-magazine tube, smooth forearm with steel end cap and straight grip stock with a sling swivel and steel crescent buttplate. The barrel is fitted with a blade front sight, the rear sight dovetail has a filler and there is a short range tang mounted peep sight. There is a sling swivel eye mounted on the bottom barrel flat ahead of the magazine. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked "-MANUFACTURED BY THE- / -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A-.", the left rear flat is marked with the two line nickel steel marking and "30 W.C.F." is marked on top at the breech. The rifle is finished in all blue. The accompanying Cody letter verifies the serial number, rifle configuration, caliber, octagon barrel, plain trigger, 1/2 magazine, extra light and that it was received and shipped on order number 34307, August 16, 1899. Complete with a mutton case.

Condition: Professionally refinished, with 99% blue finish remaining, showing some slight wear on the magazine and minor overall handling marks. The wood is fine as reoiled, with a few minor scratches and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. The mutton case is excellent.
