Manufactured in 1887. Third Model with integral dust cover rail, which features a blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight marked "1870" and graduated to 1,000 yards, and there is a long range peep sight mounted on the tang. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates ahead of the rear sight and "45-75 W.C.F." at the breech. The bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "45-75" and the serial number appears on the lower tang. Full tubular magazine with two attaching bands and mounted with a smooth forearm with steel end cap and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate with compartment for cleaning rod, (not included) and leather sling. The sling is marked with the makers name, unreadable over "01". The accompanying Cody letter verifies the serial number, rifle configuration, 32 inch octagon barrel, plain trigger, graduated peep and wind gauge sights, no level, sling and swivel and that it was shipped on August 31,1887. Research by the consignor shows that only 38 rifles were made with 32 inch barrels.
