Spearpoint bowie knife marked Clarenbach & Herder Philadelphia. Knife measures 17” overall, 11” blade, ivory grip, S-shaped guard with silver ferrule between guard and ivory grip. The blade is marked on both sides of the ricasso and the quality of manufacture is extremely fine. The blade shows most of its original polish, is its full original dimensions, showing just some slight erosion and beginning age. The ivorygrip is near excellent with a lovely patina. The manufacture is top quality throughout. This American maker is seldom encountered and we would date the knife from the 1850’s to 60’s. Est: $6,000 - $12,000
