Spanish miquelet flintlock pistol in Ripol style with fish tail butt and pierce steel inlays circa 18th century. The arm measures 17 ¼” overall with 10 ¾” barrel of approximately .62 caliber smooth bore. Thereis no signature other than a half moon shaped small mark on lock. The rear portion of the barrel is nicely chiseled in a ribbed design which extends 5 ¼” from breech to center of barrel and light engraving begins at thispoint and carries forward to muzzle. The pan and trigger guard and hammer show good quality ribbed design and metal work. The stock is inlaid with pierced steel inlays. The front barrel band is missing and a period ram rod (probably the original) is retained but is broken and reduced in length about 2 ½”. The metal surfaces are in good condition with a light coating of surface rust which would clean easily. The stock is good to very good with some minor imperfections and normal aging with no major issues. The original belt hook is retained. Last sold Richard K. Bourne auctioneer for James Elwood Jones Collection 1981. From an old N.Y.
