Southern Plains Beaded Strike-A-Lite Bag 1890-1900
The lot features a nice strike-a-lite beaded bag from the Southern Plains Native American Indians dating to circa 1890-1900’s. The bag is constructed of harness leather and old Indian tanned hide showing beadwork along with German silver concho buttons and long, frilly fringe at the base. The original tie straps is still intact at the top, a nice addition. The front shows a fine border of all period correct glass trade seed beads with a sky padre blue background with square figures in cobalt and metal faceted. The piece has minor drying of the leather on the front and very minor bead loss from age and use. Provenance: From the Ex-collection of Tom Hardy of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Ohio. The piece is likely from the Kiowa or Comanche Indians and measures 13 inches long by 3 inches wide.
