Smith & Wesson No. 2 Army 32 cal rim fire period scroll engraved, serial #11384, gray patina finish, rosewood grips. This Civil War era S&W shows fine engraving which is an original to the period and may be factory orpossibly New York however a research letter from S&W may clarify. The metal surfaces show a light gray patina with some minor pinprick pitting and erosion. The engraving is well defined and shows just slight wear at the muzzle and edges. The cylinder shows patent date and is engraved around front to retain this patent date which leads this cataloger to believe the engraving may be factory. The grips are good with 50%varnish, a couple of chips and normal wear. The hinge pin shows an old repair and replacement of pin with over size pin. The action is tight, the bore is rough. Est.;$1,400-$2,800.
