Manufactured from 1861 to 1874. These Number 2 Army revolvers were favorite side arms of both officers and enlisted men throughout the Civil War as it could fire the self contained metallic cartridge . It is marked with the one line address on top of the barrel rib and patent dates around the cylinder. Blade front and notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer, trigger and ejection rod. Fitted with smooth two piece varnished rosewood grips. Matching serial number on butt and inside of the right grip panel.

Condition: Good to very good with 75% original blue finish remaining overall. The barrel shows a thinning blue finish with a mixed brown patina on exposed areas and on the high edge. The frame and cylinder retain 85% strong original blue exhibiting honest wear from use. The hammer and ejector pin show faint but distinct traces of original blue case colors. The grips are very good plus with minor scratches and handling marks and some minor varnish loss on the bottom right grip. Mechanically excellent. A nice example of a mid-War gun.
