Smith & Wesson First Model American top break revolver, .44 cal., 6” barrel, wood grips, #1809. This classic old gun shows heavy use, possibly south of the border with scattered erosion and light pitting, an old repair tothe top rib of the barrel at the breech, number has been re-stamped on the butt and the lanyard ring hole has been repaired; the bore is dark, action is fair at time of description but weak, barrel address iscentered on the rib and appears original 6” length (standard was 8”); grips are worn but overall good; correct early squared trigger and hammer without notch. Est.: $600-$1,200.
