Reportedly 54,668 manufactured of this Smith & Wesson revolver with this being 54,173. Fixed half moon front sight and fixed barrel latch rear sight. The left side of the barrel is marked with "44 S & W CTG" flanked by Maltese crosses. The one line barrel address is marked on the top of the solid rib. The S&W logo is marked on the right side of the frame. Hammer and trigger are casehardened with a blue trigger guard. Fitted with smooth pearl grips.

Condition: Very fine, 97% original nickel finish remains with some frosting on the back strap, scattered light scratches and some small spots of oxidation along the back strap edge. The pearl grips are very fine with several chips at the top of the left panel with a flat spot toward the butt and some minor hairline cracks in the top of the right panel. Mechanically fine, but does not stay locked up when not in use.
Currently the chambers will accept the 44 Special, 44 W.C.F. and 44 Russian cartridges.
