Manufactured from 1881 to 1913, this revolver was also known as the "D.A. Frontier" or "The New Model Navy". It is a top-break revolver which automatically ejects spent cartridges when opened. Built on a modified Model 3 frame and features a pinned blade front sight, all blue finish with casehardened trigger and hammer and is fitted with two-piece smooth ivory grips. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates and the matching serial number is marked on the butt, rear of the cylinder, barrel latch and on the barrel, and the right side of the frame is marked with the S&W logo.
BBL: 6 inch solid rib

Gauge: 44 Russian
Finish: blue
Grips: ivory
Serial Number: 49418
Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 70% original blue finish with a smooth mottled gray patina on the cylinder and grip straps, and a small area of minor pitting on the barrel. The sides of the hammer and trigger retain almost all of the original vibrant case colors with a smooth silver/gray on the balance. The grips are very good, with the grain taking on a very attractive aged patina, darkest on the right panel. The markings remain clear. The barrel hinge is tight and the mechanics are excellent.
