Smith & Wesson 32 Safety Hammerless 1st Model Double Action Revolver with Short Barrel, Pearl Grips and Factory Letter

The factory letter confirms the caliber and finish and states that the revolver was shipped with a 3 1/2 inch barrel and hard rubber grips to S&W's largest distributor, M.W. Robinson of New York, New York, on April 21, 1890. The addition of the short barrel was completed at a later, unknown date. The left side of the matching number barrel has the two line address/patent dates, a correct marking for factory short barrels. Nickel finish with blue trigger guard, casehardened trigger and fitted with pearl grips. Barrel and cylinder are numbered to the gun.

Very fine. The revolver retains 85% original nickel finish showing flaking (heavier on cylinder). The trigger retains some vivid original case colors and the trigger guard retains 95% original blue finish. The grips are excellent with a minor chip missing from the right panel. The pearl has a very attractive color.
