Smith & Wesson 2nd model American revolver, ornately New York style engraved, probably by L. D. Nimschke, nickel plated, original pearl grips, serial #30692, .44 caliber. The pistol is deluxe engraved with extremely fine cut scrolls, ornate ropes, in the style attributed to Nimschke. The pistol shows an old 19th century renickel finish of which 90% remains and shows some areas of minor pinprick pitting and normal aging. Theengraving is still very sharp, the markings crisp. The refinish was professionally done long ago. The pearl grips fit impeccably and are in very good condition, also very thick with iridescent pearl hues and correctescutcheon. The action is tight, interior is good, bore is still bright and at least very good plus. The numbers on the cylinder and latch are all matching. The factory letter indicates the gun was shipped May 20th 1874to M. W. Robinson, New York City. One of 40 in shipment. Robinson was the dealer who supplied the most Smith & Wessons to New York engravers, particularly to Nimschke. A very attractive and original engraved Smith &
