Smith & Wesson 1st model 2nd issue .22 caliber 7 shot revolver with frame period inscribed in script on the right side “Presented to R.F. Dunlap by lieu’s Jno. L. McIntyre and W.A. Day”, serial number 88395. This revolver remains in good tovery good original condition showing 30% to 50% original blue mixing in with a brown patina on the barrel and cylinder with some minor erosion and pinprick pitting. The cylinder shows good clear patent dates. The frame shows 75% darkenedoriginal silver wearing at the high points and edges with a dark blue color from natural age. The varnished rosewood grips are very good plus with just some slight edge wear. The action works well and the barrel address is good. The bore shows use and the barrel is tight upon the hinge pin. It would be interesting to research the history of these three men as they may well have had Civil War careers and served together. Est.: $1250-$2500
