The lot features a fantastic trade bead necklace from the Sioux Native American Indians of the Plains dating to circa 1880-1890’s. The necklace shows Indian tanned hide strung with excellent period correct 19th Century trade beads which include bone hair pipe long beads, padre wound glass pony beads and rare wound glass cranberry beads. The strand is double strung showing a nice even patina. Provenance: From the private family collection of Sarah Alling of Helena, Montana. The family collection of Sarah Alling, a 5th Generation Montanan, began in the 19th Century and has grown since. Along with being an avid collector herself, Sarah co-founded with Bruce VanLandingham Sundog Fine Art of Bozeman, Montana which was both part museum and gallery. Overall measures 35” circumference (a total of 70” with both strands).
