The lot features a polychrome painted stretched rawhide parfleche drum in the style of the Sioux Native American Indians. The drum is from the 20th Century and was handmade in Northwestern Montana. The piece shows a wetted and stretched rawhide parfleche with an old bent willow wood hoop frame that is sewn with rawhide / sinew. The drum is polychrome painted showing a roaming herd of eight Great American Bison Buffalo with a Southwestern sun in the sky along with a wavy blue water line. The reverse shows a Buffalo Skull at the center which shows a sun at the rear which is accented by four corners of red and blue hoof prints or rain drops in a strong pattern and lastly seven Buffalo hoof prints at the left bottom corner. The piece shows a patina. The piece is in the style and manner of the Sioux American Indians but cannot be confirmed as being as such. The age is unknown. The drum measures 15" in diameter and 3 3/8" thick.
