This is an excellent polychrome painted parfleche sheath from the Sioux Native American Indians with a rare large mid to late 19th century bowie trade knife. The trade bowie knife shows Elk Antler grips with a brass hilt and large forged blade. The blade shows expert craftsmanship and a wonderful sharp edge. The sheath shows traditional geometric mineral polychrome paints on a parfleche rawhide construction with hide sewn edges. Both show a great condition and display very well. Bowie knife is 15.75"L with a 9.75"L blade. Sheath is 3 7/8"W x 12"L. Knife and sheath are 16.75"L.
