The lot features a Sioux Native American Indian fully beaded umbilical cord turtle fetish from circa 1890-1920’s. The piece shows a tent trade canvas body with sinew and trade cotton thread sewn glass trade seed beads in a crazy and geometric linear pattern. The beads are all early and shows colors of Cheyenne pink, chalk white, cobalt, light blue, greasy green, red white hearts, sky padre blue, medium green and more. The turtle shape shows a piece of hide at the head which porcupine quill work in red ocher coloring and each foot shows trade rope or yarn holding two rolled tin jingle cones. The piece has been well preserved with only slight bead loss and a nice supple surface. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana. Measures 9”L by 7”W.
