This is an exceptional Sioux Native American Indian beaded sheath and large Bowie Knife from the mid to late 19th century. The sheath shows Indian tanned hide over a parfleche rawhide with excellent glass trade seed beadwork that is all expertly sinew sewn. The lot also features an original early trade bowie knife from the Sioux Native American Indians showing an oversized blade with vine etched hilt, bone handle having brass spots, a center grip accent, and round pommel. The bowie knife shows wonderful craftsmanship. The sheath shows only slight bead loss and museum quality condition with tin jinge cone accented fringe. Provenance: From a large private Native American artifact collection in Iowa. Bowie knife is 15 5/8"L with a 10"L blade. Sheath is 16"L with top strap x 3 3/8"W. Sheath and knife are 17.5"L.
