Silver-mounted Georgian flintlock pistol by H. Hadley of London. The pistol measures approx. 16-3/8” overall with nearly 9-7/8” octagon to round two-stage barrel of approx. .62 caliber smoothbore. The pistol shows high quality hallmarked sterling silver mounts with grotesque mask butt, flower and shell finial on triggerguard, silver ramrod pipes and fancy silver sideplate that is pierced and formed in a scroll and leaf design with incorporated masks or faces. The plaque at wrist shows a stand of arms in silver with knight’s helmet on top. The hallmarks show “TH”, British lion, Jester with crown, and letters “JF” or “FF” in four small hallmarks on the triggerguard. The pistol remains in good to very good condition with a brown patina finish on the barrels, light grey patina on lock, some scattered light to moderate erosion, pinprick pitting, and no cleaning or buffing whatsoever, and the edges are not rubbed. The engraving is good on the lock and tang, and of very high quality. The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration with proper hammer, frizzen, and small parts.
