Offered in this lot we have a large signed Acoma polychrome pottery jar. The bottom of the jar is signed "Bill Freeman" along with a number. Bill Freeman (1927-2012) was a Native American artist, author, painter, sculptor, and potter. He was known for his palette knife paintings of American wildlife and landscapes. He spent much of his early life as a cowboy in Arizona, Wyoming, and New Mexico, as well as was a fire fighter with the U.S. Forest Service. The jar displays excellent geometric patterns in black and burnt orange across the white clay exterior. The jar displays a wonderful repeating pattern across the sides with patterns across the top. The piece shows good condition overall with some wear due to age. The piece displays a large size measuring 9 1/0" tall by approximately 12 1/2" in diameter.
