Located in Southern Austria, Ferlach has a long and upstanding tradition of producing some of the finest hunting weapons of all types dating back to the 1500s and continuing to this day. Ferlach firearms are known to have the perfect balance of quality, beauty, craftsmanship and functionality. Today there are 13 companies making guns. These companies are family groupings and some of the best known of these families and most often encountered in the U.S. have names such as Hauptmann, Winkler and Michelitsch just to name a few. This particular rifle was made by Johann Fanzoj and features a box lock action with side plates, high ramp blade front sight and fixed "V" notch rear sight mounted on a quarter rib with dove tailed mounting bases. The top of the rib is engraved with floral scroll designs and marked "J. FANZOJ-FERLACH" in gold inlay. There is a geometric design at the rear and an oak leaf on the dolls head extension. The front ramp features floral scroll and geometric engraving, there is a gold sighting tip on the front blade and gold wire inlaid border around the upper edge of the ramp and a thin band around the breech end of the barrels. The bottom of the right barrel is marked "B'O'HLER RASANT" , with the caliber designation and various proof marks. Mounted on the quarter rib is a Swarovski 2.5-10x42 scope with EAW swing mounts and clear lens covers. The receiver is engraved with animal scenes. The left side has a wild dog attacking a ram in a nicely detailed mountain scene, the right side is a bear attacking a moose, again in a nicely detailed mountain scene and the bottom has a mountain lion attacking a deer. The right side of the receiver is signed "Sparouz J". The fences has a floral scroll design and there is gold inlaid highlighting on the floral vine bordering. The break lever has a floral scroll design with a matte background and is skeletonized with a bucks head and features gold inlaid wire accents. The upper tang extends onto the comb and has light floral engraving with gold inlaid accents and gold "S" and "F" safety markings. The trigger guard and tang also feature floral scroll engraving with a matte background, gold inlaid wire accents and gold inlaid serial number. The scope ring is engraved with light floral scroll designs with a gold inlaid thin band around the front and rear. The receiver and pistol grip cap are finished grey, the remaining parts are blue, jeweled water table, gold double triggers with course checkering, manual tang mounted safety, sling swivel mounted on the bottom of the barrels and mounted with extra fancy, nicely figured forearm and pistol grip stock with multi point checkering. The forearm hardware is engraved with floral scroll designs with gold inlaid accents and the grip cap is engraved with a lynx on a tree branch in a wooded mountain scene with floral vine border, with gold inlaid accents. The stock has a cheek piece, sling swivel and fitted with a Pachmayr Old English recoil pad. Complete with a hard leather takedown case with leather corner protectors and handle, brass hardware and green felt lining with gold embossed green leather label affixed to the inside of the lid which reads "JOHANN FANZOJ / logo / GUNMAKERS SINCE 1790 / GRIESGASSE, 3, 9170 FERLACH, AUSTRIA".

Condition: Excellent 99% plus. The rifle retains nearly all of the blue and grey finishes with only slight overall handling marks. The wood is excellent with a few minor dings along the upper edges of the forearm and overall light handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The scope is as new. The case is excellent.
