Siege weight bassinet skull from 15th to early 16th century, European closed helmet showing high quality forging by armorer. The comb is nicely formed and shaped and shows a serrated decoration. The helmet shows verythick forged metal plates and the bowl is made in 2 pieces seemed at the center. There are brass studs as decoration around the back edge and the rim is decorated to match the comb. There is a plume holder affixed to therear of the helmet and the interior shows very early forging and handwork. The helmet weighs approximately 10+ pounds. The front portion of this helmet shows drilled holes where there was a face piece or visor wasattached. Absolutely authentic to the mid-15th or very early 16th century. Est.: $6,000-$12,000.
