This is a rare Victorian Rifle Brigades Home Service pattern helmet for Officer's of the Shropshire Light Infantry circa 1890. The helmet is covered in a dark green fabric. The center has a gilt helmet star surmounted by the crown of Queen Victoria and features gilded acanthus wreathes surrounding a garter circle. Within the circle is the regimental badge in silver and gold. A silver banner sports the regimental title. Gilt spike and crossed base tops the helmet. Tudor rose ear bosses suspend a gilded leather backed chin chain. A gilded edge is affixed to the fore peak and extends down the center of the rear.

Condition: Fine, the green fabric has faded to a very dark blue/green and shows some minor wear and a few dings. The gilt and silver components are also fine. The interior shows some wear.
