Sharps conversion carbine, .50-70 caliber, 22” round barrel, S/N 75748, in overall fine to excellent condition as period converted from percussion to cartridge displaying the majority of its period blue on the barrel and case colors onthe receiver; excellent bore, crisp action, fine wood stocks with crisp inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the butt stock and the initials “ G.W. P.” carved in block letters on the right side of the butt stock. Accompanied by a 1973dated inventory sheet on the Sharps that includes the typed comment: “1936 – This Sharps was owned by my Uncle, George W. Poppett, died in 1940, was born and raised in San Bernardino, Calif., son of Robert Poppett (1853-1918). Uncle George was aRancher and Miner all his life. At the time of death, Uncle George was 88 years old. How long he had the rifle, I do not know. By C.R. Poppett”. (Antique). Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
