Sharps New Model arsenal conversion to .50-70 cartridge, blue and case hardened finish, cartouche wood stocks in very good plus to near fine original condition, serial #97426. Note from noted Sharps expert Frank Sellersstates that this carbine was one of the early Sharps to go West to the frontier. The carbine shows approx. 90-95% arsenal blue finish on barrel, some light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting, some slightdiscoloration and normal aging. The barrel markings and address are good, the frame and lockplate show 60-80% case hardening with some darkening, light erosion, normal aging, and some fiery rainbow colors. The forend isvery good plus, the buttstock is also very good and would be rated higher except for a break and small repair on the right side of the wrist. The original chip of wood is neatly replaced. The left side of thebuttstock is a sharp DFC cartouche, traces of earlier cartouche beneath saddle ring bar. The buttplate shows 50% case hardening. Action is tight, bore bright and near excellent. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
