Sharps New Model 1869 carbine 50-70 caliber, 22” barrel one of only approx 500 made, serial # C49660 refer Flayderman 5F-033. These are different from conversions in that there is no provision for priming device inthe lock area. The carbine remains in very good condition showing a brown patina finish with strong evidence of blue mixed in. The barrel markings are visible but slightly light, the stocks are good with a crack inthe forend, some minor stress cracks around lock, normal aging and wear. There is an initial “W” lightly carved in right center of butt stock. The original sight and small parts are retained, the action is good, thebore is worn. These 50 cal. commercial carbines were frontier favorites and could have been used in the early buffalo hunts. Est.; $4,000-$6,000.
