Sharps Model 1853, “John Brown or Beechers Bible” Model slant breech carbine in .52 caliber percussion, serial number 14422 in good to very good original condition acquired by William A. Gary in 1939. The metal surfaces show a deep brown patina finish with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The markings on the lock plate and behind the breech are good and the lock plate shows the ‘S in Sharp’s and the 1852 patent date. The originalrear sight and the saddle ring bar and ring are also retained. The stock is weathered with some opening to the grain, losses at the toe, some chips, mars and use and is generally fair to good condition overall. The barrel address is legibleand the brass shows an un-cleaned patina. The action is good, the bore is very good plus and still shiny. William A. Gary collection consigned by his estate.
