The rifle swith copy of factory letter shipped to S.H. & G. Co. of New York, Jan 1878, 30" octagon barrel, double set triggers, 9 lbs 12 oz, Hartley and Gramm were jobbers and many of their rifles were shipped West. The rifle shows a large silver blade front site which is oversized, standard rear site, good metal surfaces drifted to brown, weathered and worn wood stocks with some chips and losses and butt plate purposefully removed as was the Indian tradition. The markings are good, action tight, bore surprisingly excellent. A rifle that saw use on the Frontier and was probably shipped West. Sold by Auction Productions at this location for noted collector John Kopec nearly a decade ago. By our recollection it had some oralhistory as being found in a cave and carried by Indians. No documentation to this effect.
