Sharps & Hankins Civil War era Navy issue carbine, .52 rimfire caliber, serial #1794S. The carbine remains in very good original condition showing most of its original leather cover on barrel, just some small losses at the rear portion at the breech, ends, some tatters, cracking, and normal age for 140-year plus old leather. Approx. 90% intact. The frame shows mottled case hardening within a brown patina and about 10-20% remains. There is some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting. The stock is good to very good with some minor scratches, slight oil staining, normal aging. Markings are good. Action good. Bore fair to good. An above average of a fairly scarce Civil War era carbine. $1,250 - $2,500
