Sharps Conversion Rifle with Heavy Barrel
Unmarked heavy barrel that gauges at 45 caliber, sights removed and a 31 1/2" tube scope mounted on the barrel with dovetailed bases. The left side of the receiver is marked "C SHARPS PAT / SEPT. 12th 1848, the lock is marked "C SHARPS' PAT / OCT. 5TH 1852" and the serial number is marked on the upper tang. Double set triggers, blue barrel, with casehardened remaining parts and mounted with a smooth forearm and checkered straight grip stock with carbine buttplate.

Condition: Period refinished, the barrel has a mix of blue finish and smooth brown patina. The lock and receiver have a smooth mottled gray patina and there are bright case colors (40%) on the lever and lower tang mixed with smooth silver gray and dark patina respectively. The wood is very good, the forearm has been refinished, and the stock has a small splinter missing next to the lower tang, otherwise there are some scattered minor dings and dents. A small screw has been added to the upper tang which may have obliterated the first number of the serial number. The markings are readable. The action is fine.
