Scottish basket-hilt broadsword with regimental markings circa 1700 to 1780. 38-3/4” overall with 32” blade. Blade measures slightly over 1-1/2” across ricasso with raised median ridge. The pommel shows“H” over “96” military or regimental markings (possibly 96th Highland?) The hilt shows copper flux in its construction with god quality piercework and forging. The blade is very good quality. The sword shows light tomoderate scattered pitting and erosion, a couple areas of slightly heavier pitting. The guard shows some bending and heavy age on the interior. The grip has been expertly restored. The condition is good overall andis an authentic period broadsword. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
